Jordans - Digipack Booklet

This is the inside of the booklet. We have completed this in an animated comic style because we wanted to do something different to other CD booklets, where they just have the lyrics. We did the story of how our band became the Hiphopopotomous and the Rhymnocerous. Another reason we did this is because we had the idea that we could have the link and the intertextuality between digipack and the music video. We were going to do this by having this story being involed as a cut scene at the beginning of our video.

Jordan's - Digipack
This is our final digipack.
We chose the simple design because we wanted to make it comical, and the simplicities are suppose to be representative of our band, because we want to make our people look comical and the complete opposite to a rapper.
We chose the pictures because our song is about a "Hiphopopotomus, and a Ryhmenocerous"
and obviously these names are suppose to relate to the animals; hippopotamus and a rhinocerous.
We chose the green border because of connotations of grass and nature, but since they are rappers , i made it spiky. I added the border to make it seem more refined and more uniformed between both sides of the digipack. Once*

Magazine Advertisement
This is our advertisement for a magazine it was created on wordle and shows all major words from the song, in this case its the bands name 'flight of the concords' with the song title hiphopopotamus and Rhymenocerous with some funky lyrics like 'ha hahahaha' and motherflippin' which will give people a insight into the song. The advert also features a website hid in the wordle this means when people are looking through it can make them feel good when they spot it and they will then visit the website. Finally the genre of the band is comedy so the font itself looks fun, soft and jokey to complete the comedy look.

Wordle - Idea for Cd Cover?
We found a website app called wordle. On this website you can type in words or lyrics and the ones that occur more frequently are bigger and stand out more.
So our idea was to use this program for our Cd cover. Our initial thought was to type the lyrics into it and it came with an interesting pattern. However if we were to make this our Cd cover we wanted to involve the band name and the Cd album name, So we had to add in 'FlightOfTheConcords', 'Hiphopopotamus', 'Rhymenoceros' and 'motherflippin'
We added these in because these are the words that we wanted to stand out above the rest.
However, our only problem was with sizes, and we found that sometimes it became a bit pixelated, however Russell and Jack can go into their photography class and sort this out.
The example that we wanted is this:

Jacks Digipack
This is my attempt of a digipack that i decided to do, I decided to have the front with the two main characters together rather than on separate sides, this is to show they have a tight-knit relationship as they are a band duo. For the back, i decided to have the character "Steve" on the back to show he has some involvement within the video, the photo portrays the expressions that he has to express during his part of the video.
I also decided to change the colour of the font for either side as they both are the relevant stand out colours. The red on the front is the most relevant colour as it is typically the most stand out colour out of any other, the titles need to stand out so the customers can instantly spot it from the shelves. Whereas for the back, the white writing is the most relevant to stand out mainly because the background and white writing complement eachother very well.

Russells digi pak design
My design for a digi pak features the same or near enough the same cartoon rhino and hippo as the others this is because it was universally decided that they fitted the comic rap genre we we going for. The font reminds me of back to the future which has gone down in history as an epic film so I'm hoping using the same font will have the same effect on the CD cover also it has a soft comic appeal to it which also suits the genre of the song and the pictures i have used.
On the front of the cover i have included the bands name and the name of the singles being released so that in one quick glance any potential buyers will now everything they need to which is the song and band.Although one bad point the song name hiphopopotamus vs Ryhmnocerus is at the bottom of the cover but the pictures are opposite there respective names which could cause confusion, on the other hand the hippo and rhino look obviouslydifferent so it should be ok. On the other hand its the rhymnocerus that starts singing first so is therefore on the left hand side or the side you would see first (because itis read/ viewed from leftto right). the back of the cd cover features the "backstory" that jordan made describing the situation and why they came to write this song it also features the rear end of a hippo which relates to the comedy side of the song and its also the back of the c.d. cover as well as the hippo. Finally it has all the barcodes and parental guidance sticker things . this was because the barcode is needed for sales and parental guidance because it may feature lyrics which could offendlso has the copyright symbol to show poeple that it is copyrighted and cant be duplicated. the sony label features on both the front and back cover so people understand which company produced the music thus increasing sony's popularity. However i could not draw the images because i cant draw and i couldnt use the images from google because they were taken images and couldnt be used.

Editing Problems we are facing
After constructing our rough edit on i movie we are now looking at doing the final video on adobe pro. However we have encountered many problems, such as certain clips are being cut short and some are going missing altogether. Plus we tried to move video clips over from imovie to adobe but the sound was no longer there, despite the sound not being important it is used to help us link up there mouths to the words. We also tried to move the music file across but it was at this point that it just froze up and wouldn't work at all.
In the end we decided we are going to start again and upload all the clips with sound and uncut and use the rough edit as a guideline to what clip to use and where to cut it.
